October is Gullah Geechee Heritage Month! North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida —the states that make up the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, recognize the Gullah Geechee nation and their heritage in the month of October.
Gullah Geechee culture is the foundation of all Black American culture and can serve as the bridge between what it means to be Black in America and of African descent.
Not familiar with the culture? There are quite a few resources and materials out there that inform and celebrate the rich culture of the Gullah Geechee folk. We will try to share some here with you all throughout the month! We hope you take some time this month to incorporate this knowledge into your homeschool. Who knows, you might even find out that you’re Gullah Geechee ✨🤎🤎🤎 ✨
This is so awesome! I found out today at the library. They had some good books on display and an interactive display too.
