Akoma Homeschoolers is a hybrid learning center provided for families under the Akoma Cares umbrella.  Although we offer classes that rely on the support of community and parent volunteers, we are not a homeschool co-operative.

Our classes and clubs are designed to add value to your homeschool experience while still leaving room for flexibility in your schedule. We respect all homeschool methods, but value a more community driven homeschool experience that encourages academic exploration through group learning opportunities and connection. 

We offer a variety of in-person, virtual, and hybrid classes specifically designed for melanated homeschooling children of all ages and abilities residing in North and South Carolina. Our classes are afro-centered, culturally relevant, and reinforce positive self identity for our students as they learn about--and from, people that understand and look like them.

In person classes are primarily held across the Columbia area and neighboring cities with field trips spanning across the North and South Carolina region. We partner with spaces across the Carolinas to reinforce that the world truly is a classroom. You can catch us exploring spaces and trying new things all throughout the region!
