Service Description

Discover the joy of reading with our Afrocentered book club where we celebrate melanated characters, authors, and illustrators. Each week a story is read a loud with a supporting activity or craft to complete. All supplies are provided. Parent participation is encouraged. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Amanda's journey as a homeschooling mom of 6+ years has equipped her with invaluable insights and the unique needs of our students. She is a dedicated supporter and participant of Akoma Cares Hybrid Learning Center and serves in several roles within the organization. Guided by the mantra "Be the change...", Amanda prioritizes creating meaningful and immersive culturally conscious spaces for students to explore and discover the world around them. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys the wonders of nature through tent camping and exploring unique places in South Carolina with her son. Her love for the outdoors extends to her teaching, as she often incorporates the outdoors into her lessons and activities.
